Reflection #4 - A Seminar Workshop About Creative Writing

Date: May 22, 2022

A Seminar Workshop About Creative Writing

Name: Alcayde, Mariah Irish R.

Section: ABM 12-1

I have learned from my last webinar about “A Seminar Workshop About Creative Writing”, although Creative writing is not related to my course or what I want, I think I can also use it for some cases as well as it gives me an option and opportunity to think more for my future job and course I take when I get into college. I realize also here that even though I don’t want the topic (essays or writing, etc.), I’d enjoyed the discussion because the speaker, Mrs. Ailene Perez gives us more information and new knowledge (I think it is only for me or some ABM students who attended because there are HUMSS students with us that I think they are more knowledgeable about creative writing, our topic), that I didn’t have yet hear to my past English teacher or lessons or maybe I just forgot the lesson. At first, I was feel nervous because she was calling names that I thought I can’t answer her question, but I realized that calling our names to recite and answer is for us to motivate and have self-confidence and self-trust for us to recite.

Creative writing is not easy, but it was fun for me because it requires me to write in detail about what I want to explain or say, and it requires us to utilize our ideas and thoughts, which I find interesting. Then I realized that maybe I should give myself a chance to learn more about writing and essays because on my last webinar on creative writing, I just noticed the things that I hadn't noticed before, such as the words that were expanded with the detailed to make the conversation or the topic more interesting and colorful, unique. I realize that nothing in the world is easy, all things are hard and we just need to learn and hard work for it for us to learn and used to it. But I also realize that if you don’t have any interest or like the topic/something and you don’t give any chance to learn about it, you might fail. Lastly, I just want to add and this is not related to the topic but when I was listening to our last webinar about creative writing, I realize that I should fill in the forms correctly and review them three times so I do not be late, but it has also an advantage for me because even though I didn’t get a certificate related to my course, I have learned new things even though it is not related to what I want to pursue in the future.

My Dream Job

My Dream Job

My ideal job is to work as an executive secretary or executive assistant, which assists a firm executive or administrator with their everyday tasks. They are responsible for keeping track of an Executive's appointments, editing papers before they are sent to corporate workers or stakeholders, and answering phone calls and emails on behalf of the Executive. I want to do this kind of job because it pays well and, of course, I'll be working in an air-conditioned environment. However, while there are many advantages to being an executive secretary, there are also drawbacks because it requires a lot of work and requires me to know a lot of things outside of my job for me and my boss to survive, but I believe that I am capable of doing what a secretary does because it is my dream job, I know how difficult it is, so maybe I'll take office secretary or maybe a manager.

A secretary is one of the most important roles in a company since it requires someone who can handle a variety of administrative responsibilities. These jobs are typically professional and managerial, and they may entail handling office duties for an entire company or department. What makes secretary such a dream job for me? It's because I enjoy doing things that are both tough and time-consuming. I used to be a secretary at our school when I was in high school, and although I'm only an assistant secretary, I'd enjoy doing what an assistant secretary does. If the secretary is absent, I do her responsibility. I understand that the job of a real secretary is different, but I want to learn what a secretary does. I'd always imagined myself in a simple position, perhaps as a simple employee, with a high salary and an air-conditioned workplace. My ideal workplace would be at a bank, office, building, hotel, or similar establishment since I want a respectable environment that would compliment me as well as a high technology building and equipment at my work, and my ideal work clothing is, of course, a decent or business attire. My dream is to have my desk and perhaps an office area so that I can concentrate on my job and not be disturbed. I'd also like to be a workaholic employee, working long hours and so on, also, I want to save money so that I may start a business for extra income and pursue other goals.

It is not easy, and I am aware that there are a lot of steps I must take to attain my goal; I will encounter failures, rejection, and mistakes, among other things. I want to learn and do more. I am aware that I am not particularly gifted in any subjects, particularly mathematics, which is required for the career I desire or have aspired to, but I am also aware that I am eager to study and work hard to comprehend and learn about what I desire. Many individuals value having a dream job because they know what they want to accomplish in the future, and having a dream job serves as an incentive for them to work hard and fulfill their goals. As someone who aims for a great and well-paying profession, I realize that to attain my goal, I must work hard, study hard, and learn and explore more. Having a dream is difficult, which is why there is a step-by-step procedure for me to attain the career I desire.

Reflection #3 - Career and Opportunities in the Field of Marketing and Operations

 Date: May 15, 2022

Career and Opportunities in the Field of Marketing and Operations

Name: Alcayde, Mariah Irish R.

Section: ABM 12-1

My takeaway from our recent webinar on Career and Opportunities in the Field of Marketing and Operations is that I learned about college business and management programs and courses that I might pursue, as well as the opportunities under the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, BSBA Major in Marketing Management, and BSBA Major in Operations Management courses. The opportunities under those courses are exactly what I want to do after I graduate; those are my dream job. The most common opportunity is the entrepreneur, Mr. Lambino said that all people can start a business and create a new product, he also said that “Walang empleyado ang yumayaman, karamihan ng mayayaman ay may business, kagaya ng Doctor.” that is not what his specific said but that is what I understand on what he said. This webinar has been quite helpful in assisting me in deciding what degree I will take, what profession I want to pursue in the future, and which employment is most suited to my course. This allows me to conduct more study into what I want to achieve and what I want in the future, allowing me to make better-informed decisions and avoid regret.

I enjoyed the webinar, particularly the part where Mr. Lambino assigned us seatwork to complete and respond to. The task was difficult yet challenging, which I liked, however, no one on our Zoom meeting participants got it right. Mr. Lambino explained his PowerPoint well, and he also provided some examples. At first, he listed the various opportunities and careers available under the various courses, which I thoroughly enjoyed because I'm interested in learning more about the jobs or opportunities available to me after I graduate from college. I didn't learn enough because he simply read several opportunities without explaining them, but I can just search it up on the internet. I think that several of the presentations, such as the one concerning student discounts at MCU, are unrelated to our topic of Career and Opportunities in the Field of Marketing and Operations.

The second topic he presented was the Benefits of Management Science, which I mainly understood since it was about business, specifically the CVP, or cost, volume, and profit, which is the major basis for determining if a company is profitable or not. As I previously stated, I appreciated the seatwork he provided us since my answer was close to the correct answer; yet, I am not confident in what I have solved; but, that is okay; at the very least, I know what to do for the next webinar, which I should answer confidently. I hope that the next time he explains things more thoroughly and provides more examples and exercises so that we don't become bored or drowsy.

Reflection #2 - Personality Development and Filling out Government Forms

 Date: May 4, 2022

Personality Development and Filling out Government Forms

Name: Alcayde, Mariah Irish R.

Section: ABM 12-1

When I listen to Ms. Theresa Aspiras speak about our previous webinar, Personality Development and Filling out Government Forms, I imagine myself in the future wearing formal/business clothes for my interview, and I am both delighted and apprehensive. Ms. Aspiras described the conversation effectively, and I loved it since she had a lot of tasks for us to fill out or respond to, which may be why the talk was not dull and we didn't feel drowsy. I won't forget about the brand; she says that we should think of ourselves as a brand since we are selling/representing ourselves to others and that if we have a brand, we are popular; according to Google, a brand is a sort of product created by a certain corporation under a specific name.

I will not forget the 3 v’s, which are the visual, verb, and voyage, there is a lot of significance in these 3 v’s that will help us to apply in real life, and for us to apply for our interview and job. Visual, there are a lot of things that I’d learn about this, for example, is the proofreading or grammatical errors, sentences structure, formatting, punctuation, spelling, capitalization, etc. is the most or one of the things that need to focus on, because sometimes there are interviewers or HR managers that looking for these errors that might be one of the things I am afraid of, so I realized that I should read and learn more about the correct structure of sentences and grammar because that is the one of my weaknesses and for me not to fail.

I've learned how to dress correctly for the job I'm looking for/working for, as well as the various types of calls for body shapes so that I may dress accordingly for my body shape/type. Also, I learned that I should dress according to the culture of the company or organization I am applying for and that I should research the firm's history so that I am informed, but that I should be comfortable in the dress I am wearing. In applying for a job, I realized that the verb is more than just an action; it is also what I/we say. I realized that there are things that I can and cannot do, or that I have not yet learned/prepared for this type of situation/scenario, such as being effective in communication; I am not good at communicating with others, but I believe I can improve in that area; also, body language; now I see myself being interviewed, and when I answer, I look at the ceiling; however, I will try to learn how to be professional in that situation.

I will teach myself about the things I cannot do now, for me to be ready for the future. Voyage is how far I'll go, and I've realized that although soft skills are important, it's the power skills that make a significant difference for me as an employee and the firm I work for. Companies are seeking hard talents, and I could be lucky if I have such hard abilities. I realized that branding myself is similar to branding a product and that I should continually strive to develop and enhance myself. Improving oneself entails demonstrating to others that I am capable of performing this type of work, that I am appropriate for this market or organization, and so on. And being a brand is not easy, since there are times when I am not in demand by the people or the organization, or when my talents are insufficient and I need to develop.

REFLECTION #1

Name: Alcayde, Mariah Irish R.

Section: ABM 12-1

My reflection on our webinar about Dos and Don’ts in writing a resume/CV is that the speaker explains well the Do’s and Don’ts and gives enough samples so that we can understand more. Those tips help me to understand that I should value and take care of my credentials in school or maybe on other stuff that can be a lot of help because it is really necessary for the future when I apply for a job. As well as the tips on how to answer the question/s of the interviewer (ex. tell me about yourself/ why should I/we hire you) are easy questions but sometimes when we are having a hard time to answer those question/s that it might be difficult to answer and maybe sometimes we shutter. I realize that a resume is important, at first I thought that a resume is just a paper and not that important to apply for a job, I thought that any font, design, or spacing are okay, but now, I know why I should put the TRUE story about myself, what are my accomplishments, my education/work history, skills, etc. so that they will know about me and they can trust me for the company and for the job I am applying to. Also, the credentials and other information/s skills should be related to what job I am applying for. In my understanding, it is not that necessary to have an experience but maybe I should have the knowledge for the job/company I am applying to, although I want to that company or that job but I have no enough knowledge, I might not get to that job or the company might not hire me. So I realized what Atty. Aini said, that I should have research about the company/brief background of the company we are applying to as well as the job so that we can know. Those tips are not just only for the job I am applying for, but I can also apply those tips at my school or inside our house, by that, I can easily deal with/ to what I do being a child, student and as a worker. During the discussion I realized that the tasks/activities/mindset of a student, daughter, and a worker are almost just connected, at school, being cooperative, having a goal/dream, being friendly, finishing the school work/ tasks on time, etc. are also done by a worker and daughter, being a daughter is helping to household choirs, respect parents, etc. and as a worker, working hard, dream high, achieve the goals, etc. are just the same of being a child and a student. I learned and realized that in achieving your goals in life, we should always take the risks and consequences and accept it, there are always win and loss, if we win we are lucky, if we loss, that doesn’t mean that it is bad luck or we are losing our hope, but we should accept it as a lesson and say that “I will do better next time” instead of saying “Better luck next time”. But first, we should know more about ourselves, our passion, what we want to do, etc. If you are asking me what is my passion or what I want to do, I am undecided, I’m not yet sure of what I am capable of and what I want to do but Atty. Aini said that it is okay, not until it’s too late, that’s why I am researching and thinking of what I want and what I am capable of.
